  • Description:

    Boston Theater Company is seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to join our team as the Artistic Producer. This role offers a unique opportunity to be a part of a small growing nonprofit organization with artistic vision. 

    Note: All BTC staff and board are part time, as BTC is most active Jan - June. While the position will have responsibilities year-round, the workload will skew seasonally. This position is hybrid with 80% work from home and 20% in office/events.

    This role will work closely in collaboration with the Producing Manager and will report to the Artistic Director.

    Responsibilities:

    Programming: Play a key role in the planning and execution of the Queer Voices Festival and Road of Rainbows, our flagship events celebrating LGBTQ+ voices and experiences. Responsible for directing or hiring directors for both projects in consultation with the AD and event producers. Responsible for curating programming, coordinating logistics, and engaging with artists and patrons to create impactful and memorable experiences for participants and audiences.

    Marketing and Events: Support marketing efforts for the company, including attending promotional events and expos. Work with the team to expand our audience reach and engage with the community. Assist in the social media channels. 

    Public Representation: Serve as one of the main faces of Boston Theater Company, representing the organization at public events, industry gatherings, and community meetings. Build and maintain relationships with supporters, sponsors, and patrons.

    Education: Assist in the development and implementation of educational programs and outreach initiatives.

    Management: work with the other leaders in the team in hiring, organizing staff, maintaining and managing operations. 

    Qualifications:

    • Proven experience in directing theatrical productions, with a strong understanding of the creative process and industry trends.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse audiences and stakeholders.

    • Some marketing experience and/or understanding - including digital marketing, social media management, and event promotion (preferred).

    • Passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a commitment to amplifying underrepresented voices in the arts.

    • Familiarity with LGBTQ+ issues and experiences, with an interest in supporting and advocating for the LGBTQ+ community.

    Compensation & Benefits:

    • $20 an hour, part time

    • 5 - 15 hours of work per week (based on time of year)

    • 80% remote 20% in Boston

    Description:
    Boston Theater Company (BTC) is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our team as the Managing Director. This part-time role offers the opportunity to lead and shape the operational and administrative aspects of a growing nonprofit organization. 

    Note: All BTC staff and board are part time, as BTC is most active Jan - June. While the position will have responsibilities year-round, the workload will skew seasonally. This position is hybrid with 80% work from home and 20% in office/events.

    This role will work closely in collaboration with the Artistic Producer Manager and will report to the Board of Directors.

    Responsibilities:

    • Event Management: Work with the team on planning and execution of BTC’s key events, including the Queer Voices Festival and Road of Rainbows. Coordinate logistics, manage budgets, and oversee event staff to ensure successful outcomes.

    • Financial Oversight: Manage BTC’s day to day financial operations, including financial reporting, and ensuring the financial health of the organization. Work closely with the board and other leadership to develop and implement financial strategies.

    • Fundraising and Development: Assist in executing fundraising strategies, including grant writing, donor cultivation, and corporate sponsorships. Oversee fundraising events and campaigns to support BTC’s mission and programs.

    • Marketing and Communications: Assist in BTC’s marketing efforts, including the development and staffing of marketing events and programs. Help manage the organization’s online presence, including website updates and social media channels.

    • Public Representation: Serve as a key representative of BTC at public events, industry gatherings, and community meetings. Build and maintain relationships with supporters, sponsors, and patrons.

    • Staff Management: Work with the Artistic director on the hiring, training, and management of BTC staff. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure a positive and productive work environment.

    Qualifications:

    • Proven experience in nonprofit management, with a strong understanding of organizational operations and financial management.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse audiences and stakeholders.

    • Experience in fundraising and development, including grant writing and donor relations.

    • Strong marketing experience, including digital marketing, social media management, and event promotion.
