Beyond Boundaries: Shakespeare’s Rebels and Rule Breakers

Now in its third year, Beyond Boundaries is Boston Theater Company’s touring Shakespeare production for middle and high schools. Featuring scenes from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Macbeth, and Twelfth Night, the production uses comedy, pathos, and physical performance to explore identity, social conventions, and power. It offers modern Shakespearean scholarship and Elizabethan historical context. Beyond Boundaries is designed for middle and high school audiences, mixing comedy and pathos in a highly physical approach.

This piece features four versatile professional actors, with simple costumes and props, who travel to schools, performing everywhere from a classroom to an auditorium. There are no lights or set pieces - nothing needed but a floor and space for an audience.  It runs 50 minutes with a 10-minute talk back.  

The performance runs 50 minutes, followed by a 10-minute talkback with the actors.
